Why volunteer?

Volunteering on our programmes is a great way to help you gain new skills and experience, and grow your confidence. In working with us you will

  • Act as a role model for young people facing barriers to higher education to achieve their potential through coaching

  • Develop key employability skills

  • Receive comprehensive training

  • Experience an all-expenses covered trip to our host university (travel, accommodation and meals included)

  • Access further opportunities and resources as part of Universify's community

What volunteering involves

The programme includes in-person residentials at our host universities (a week in August and a weekend in March/April of the following year) and online 1-1 coaching.

On the residentials you will

  • Ensure our young people are safe, engaged and enjoying the experience

  • Help run activities and work as a team to ensure the programme runs smoothly

  • Be proactive about student welfare and discipline

As a coach you will schedule, book and deliver 1-1 coaching sessions with up to 3 students each month. All training will be provided. Watch this video to find out more about what coaching involves.

Coach on a course or online

Universify coaches help the smooth running of the residentials and coach up to 3 students on the courses, continuing this coaching online throughout the year.

Not sure you are available this summer? Become an online coach and deliver monthly, hour-long 1-1 sessions, coaching up to 3 students.

Become a Group Leader

The Group Leader is responsible for a group of around 20 students on a residential course. You will steer activities, work closely with the Course Director to ensure the smooth delivery of the course, and also act as a coach for up to 3 students.

Become a Course Director

The Course Director oversees the smooth running of the course, making sure activities and excursions are organised and delivered successfully. You will lead your team of volunteers, act as the on-course point of contact for parents as well as being responsible for overall student welfare and discipline during their time in the residentials. The Course Director works alongside the Head Office team to deliver the programme.
